Shopping SMART.

A few weeks ago, I was in a store trying on a few new shirts and pants to spice up the summer wardrobe little bit. Walking around stores is a little dangerous for me; I somehow seem to grab everything that’s even somewhat cute with the grace of a tornado and then I wind up in the dressing room seven shirts, three dresses and five pants deep, yet I only leave with one or two things.

After the last dressing room fiasco, I decided to reevaluate my life a little bit. Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but you catch my drift. I began to realize that I was falling for the oldest trick in the book—grabbing clothing items that are TRENDY, but not shopping for something that would fit me specifically.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love keeping up with the latest trends. I feel like there is always a way to adapt something that is currently cute to every body type. But ladies, above anything else, the most important thing you can do when you shop is to find an outfit or two that you feel comfortable and confident in.

I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of times in junior high and high school I wanted to get the latest trends—the plaid shorts, the Hollister shirts, the lace-trimmed undershirts were all the rage. Looking back at pictures, I laugh at some of the things I was wearing because I remember how uncomfortable and out-of-my-skin some of those outfits made me feel. I’m so grateful that I’ve learned to shop smarter than that and find things that helped make me feel like me!

We see people come into the store often trying on something that is similar to what they have seen their friends wear, or something that looks exactly like that perfect dress they saw on Instagram. Many of those times we see people leave our store with an entirely different outfit that they were planning on, but ecstatic because the outfit they bought makes them look like a million bucks. That’s the best feeling to see a customer walk out of the store, stoked because they found something that they love. It’s so important to shop based on what makes you feel confident and comfortable, because that is what will look the best on you!
